Accounting and Auditing Services for Water and Utility Districts
Regulation
Water districts in the state of Texas are regulated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ.) In general, districts are required to have an annual audit performed by a Certified Public Accountant and to submit the financial statements and auditor’s report to the TCEQ no later than 120 days after the close of the district’s fiscal year.
Special Reporting
The Water District Financial Management Guide, published by TCEQ, enumerates special financial reporting requirements for water districts, including the form and content of supplemental information required to be included in the audited financial statements.
